Health Coaching can mean many things. I consider Health Coaching anything that helps my clients get back on the road to wellness and vitality. Sometimes, that means we figure out how to tweak your diet to optimize your energy. Other times, I work with you to figure out why you can’t workout the way you used to.

I received my training as a Health Coach from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition’s cutting-edge Health Coach Training Program. During my training, I studied over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative coaching methods with some of the world’s top health and wellness experts. My teachers included Dr. Andrew Weil, Director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine; Dr. Deepak Chopra, leader in the field of mind-body medicine; Dr. David Katz, Director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center; Dr. Walter Willett, Chair of Nutrition at Harvard University; Geneen Roth, bestselling author and expert on emotional eating; and many other leading researchers and nutrition authorities.

My education has equipped me with extensive knowledge in holistic nutrition, health coaching, and preventive health. Drawing on these skills and my knowledge of different dietary theories, I work with clients to help them make lifestyle changes that produce real and lasting results.

What does hands on healing actually mean?

Hands on healing means using one’s hands to ‘connect’ to the body to assess and fix what is going on. IMT treatment techniques are manual (hands-on), and generally involve gentle manipulative techniques to promote tissue repair, normalize structure and restore function. Unique to IMT is the integration of manual therapy techniques for all systems in the body (i.e. bone, nerve, fascia, muscle, organ, lymph and circulatory systems). As each tissue type in the body has unique requirements for healing, tissue specific techniques are used to yield optimal results. Often, multiple systems are addressed to facilitate recovery, as a dysfunction in one system may influence or be influenced by a problem in another system.

There is no question that good health follows good food. We ‘are what we eat.’ I love to eat good food. It has to taste good and be nourishing for me to consider putting it in my body. I am sharing with you a few of my favorite recipes. My rules for food are simple. Eat whole unprocessed foods whenever possible. The more color on your plate, the better you will feel. Each of my recipes taste good, are relatively easy to make. You will feel better after eating them—nourished with good energy to face the day. I hope you enjoy them. Feel free to share your favorites with others.
Concussions are a hot topic right now. They are on the rise and can get in the way of living your life in so many ways. If you have ever had a concussion, you know that feeling of the shade rolling down over your eyes, that headache pounding and that general sense of uneasiness in the world. You think you should feel fine. There is no evidence of an injury on the outside but you just don’t feel right. The brain is very important to our ability to live and feel good. If it has been knocked around, we don’t feel right. Many professionals will tell you to rest until that feeling subsides. I’m a big believer in resting and listening to your body. Don’t go back to life before you are ready to do so. My techniques can help soothe those difficult symptoms of pain and discomfort associated with a concussion. You always need to go to a doctor to monitor your care. You can come to me after the doctor to help support your way back to health. My techniques help to soothe the trauma that affects the brain from a concussion. Working with me helps you re-connect with yourself and your brain so that you can get back on track.

“As a mother of three boys I am interested in a healthy lifestyle for my children, my husband, and myself. Mary has been an ongoing support in our lives since our oldest son was born. When conventional medicine didn’t seem to get the job done, Mary used her integrative approach to attack childhood illnesses from a different angle. She was also instrumental in putting me back together post pregnancy and delivery (not to mention getting my body ready for a healthy pregnancy). Mary combines her manual therapy techniques, nutrition guidance and positive outlook on life to provide clients with an individually tailored approach to their personal goals. She will become a trusted friend and advisor – you won’t be sorry you called!”
